here is an interesting related videos. Lindsey Williams says that in Alaska there is source of oil which will be enough for US for min next 200 years. but not even 1 drop of that oil is allowed to be taken. (and that is apart from the large oil reserve US already has)
yeah, they (whoever actually controls it) cleverly has called that place a National Park (ANWR). but it is very hypocritical that US refusal to ratify Kyoto protocol has been the MAIN obstacle for it to be fully enforced - while they pretend to care so much about wild life ! and while at the same time they destroy environment in Iraq, Afghanistan, in Persian gulf (almost weekly dolfins throw themselves to the shores due to the ultra-sonic frequencies used by US navy), in Pacific (Guam comes to mind)...
so, it is simply all about money and making more profits - to keep prices higher and higher.

>>>Lindsey Williams, who has been an ordained Baptist minister for 28 years, went to Alaska in 1971 as a missionary. The Transalaska oil pipeline began its construction phase in 1974, and because of Mr. Williams' love for his country and concern for the spiritual welfare of the "pipeliners," he volunteered to serve as Chaplain on the pipeline, with the subsequent full support of the Alyeska Pipeline Company. Because of the executive status accorded to him as Chaplain, he was given access to information documented in his eye opening book, The Energy Non-Crisis. After numerous public speaking engagements in the western states, certain government officials and concerned individuals urged Mr. Williams to put into print what he saw and heard, stating that they felt this information was vital to national security. Mr. Williams firmly believes that whoever controls energy controls the economy. Thus, The Energy Non-Crisis.<<<
oh, and this whole "drilling matter" is nothing new to US politics ! apparently - it is just another political tool to keep the general public in the dark about the political game being played on and on between Dems & Repugs.
especially interesting are the figures in the section Estimates of oil reserves in next section "Projected impact on global price" it is said that it will not influence price on the world market. but it looks like Lindsey's data leads to quite different conclusion !
oh, and of course, both Obama and McCain strongly oppose drilling it.
right - so, of course it is always better to destroy environment elsewhere than at home ! and not only environment - but millions peoples lives...

If the Republicans make "Drill, baby, drill!" their rallying cry we should respond with: "Spill, baby, spill!"
