BOBs Awards 2008: Bahasa Indonesia

My friends at Deutsche Welle have asked me to spread the word about the BOBs Awards for 2008. They especially wanted me to tell you about a new category for this year's awards.

What are the BOBs?
The BOBs are the largest international Weblog awards and offer a thorough overview of the rapidly growing online scene of Weblogs, videoblogs and podcasts. Last year alone, 7,000 blogs, podcast and videoblogs were nominated and over 100,000 people voted for their favorites online. Awards are decided both by an international jury of media experts and bloggers and through online voting.

Over the next four weeks, Internet users can nominate exceptional Weblogs at www.thebobs.com. Deutsche Welle is also proud to announce that the Indonesian language has been added to the BOBs, bringing the total number of languages to 11 and the total categories to 16 (Arabic, Chinese, German, English, Farsi, French, Indonesian, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish).
For the first time, there will a special prize directed at Southeast Asia -- a new category called "Best Indonesian language blog." As you may know, blogging is huge in Indonesia so I think it's exciting that they have chosen to recognize Indonesian bloggers. Two other new categories debut this year: "best podcast" and "best videoblog."

Deutsche Welle is the overseas broadcast service of Germany (a mandate similar to VOA or BBC World Service). The BOBs is a great way to broaden your horizons and learn about some really interesting blogs from around the world.
