Update: Now it looks as if it could be Evan Bayh. More here.
The fact Obama has held off until the last minute to announce his running mate would seem to auger well for Hillary Clinton. In the last few days, it has become more clear that McCain is catching up. Having Hillay behind him could probably give Obama far more electoral support than any other pick. He needs Hillary's legions of working-class supporters -- voters Obama has yet to win over..
Obama is in trouble. According to the Democratic Party's pollster, among independent voters, Obama led polls by 14% a few months ago, but today, among independents, he is behind McCain by 10%.
There is certain excitement about combining Obama and Clinton on the one ticket. Call it the "fire and ice" factor. I think if Obama truly believes Hillary will help him to secure his victory, he will pick her.
I'd like to know opinions of other thoughtful folks reading this:
ReplyDeleteeven he WILL win (which is quite doubtful) - is the Obama actually the personification of the long cherished dreams of American ppl, as those expressed so vividly in MLK's famous speech "I have a dream" ?

no doubts that those who run this show called "elections" are trying their best to make it appear so !
but in reality, Obama no less war- mongerer, especially with "buddy" as Biden. he openly said that he wants war to start in Pakistan. and nothing much about ending Iraq / Afgan war soon !
from other hand of course, McCain hardly is better than Obama, although he is more likely to be ALLOWED to win.

>>> The Repugs have stolen elections before...what's to stop them from doing in this one?
Who are the 'powers-that-be' that will only let Obama go so far before snatching the chair from under him?
the bottom line is that IF Obama is going to succeed, then the ENTIRE NATION of those outside of those power elite circles are going to have to rally around him day and night -- not just now, but even after he's elected; even if it has to be done in shifts around the nation, yeah -- around the globe... <<<
MLK didn't advocate war, but instead was very opposed to it, and it has cost him his life !
Obama must realize this if he seeks to be invested with the same trust of people and the executive power.

ML King said over 45 years ago that time has come to "Break a Silence". he might have been speaking about our time - because things hasn't change much since than.
and it is a shame that Obama, the 1st non-white presidential candidate speaking about increasing US troops in Afghanistan, considers military action against Iran, Pakistan; expansion of US armed forces in general as well as their weapons; his WMD talks.
although he is smarter than McCain (and Bush), and therefore more clever in his statements on many important issues, nevertheless he doesn't lose a chance to use words which are increasingly becoming a mere slogans and Equivocations - such as as "Democracy", "freedom", "national security interest" ...
he neither in hurry to abolish Patriot Act
