22 US helicopters on standby for Burma

Although the US military has withdrawn four naval ships from the vicinity of the Irrawaddy Delta, on Friday the US said it is keeping 22 cargo helicopters on standby. As the helicopters and boats needed to transport goods to far away villages are more scarce than relief goods, and helicopters less menacing in appearance than battleships (in the eyes of paranoid generals), this measure could prove helpful.

I don't know why choppers are less threatening than warships - especially considering that what they fear most is a camcorder, laptop and internet connection.
