At first, I suspect the police won't be crazy about this new "public service website." Long term, perhaps "officer rating" could encourage the police to reach out to their communities, and encourage American police to behave less aloofly, to be less standoffish. And that can only be a good thing.
Because individual officer ratings could most easily be skewed, I suspect the real value of such professional rating services is in the aggregate. RateMyCop could provide maps of US states and counties with the highest and worst rated police forces, and these could be compared with various crime statistics and information about officer pay. This could encourage the emulation of best practices. Online student ratings of classroom teachers ratings could similarly be useful in the aggregate. There is, in fact, a website called RateMyTeachers.com.* (Of course, the best known such services is designed for college students and called RateMyProfessors.com)
____
*Incidentally, RateMyTeachers reports: "We currently know of 967 schools and 181 school districts blocking RateMyTeachers. . . ."
Update: I've been reading police officer reactions to the RateMyCop, and it seems the site raises very serious safety concerns among the officers:
- "I would urge each of you to contact your agency and association/union in an effort to get the site shut down to protect officers nationwide."
- "Bad deal. Just sent the link to my command to see if they can have someone look into it more. My entire 1,000+ officer departent is listed."
- "Looks like a shopping center for cop killers to me. Pick a name that sounds good then go pick off the officer. That site is nothing more than a disaster waiting to happen."
- "My Sheriff has turned it over to the County Attorney’s Office. We don’t want our names on a public list. I have gone through great measures to keep my information private. I have had people in custody that have given me threats and told me where I live and the color of my house. I really don’t wan’t my name all over the internet for just anybody to look at."
Sorry but I personally plan to setup a site similar or assist this site in doing GOOD officers a service and BAD officers a better service. I think it will give us civillians back our rights. Officers will finally be HONEST and FAIR and "should" stop abusing their priviledges. Imagine, just because of my minority status, harassed and still no charges stick and the "FAIR" white judges don't get it... Cops are abusing their authority and lying in court making fools of the very same white judges.
ReplyDeleteI WAS PULLED OVER THIS MORN IN RICHMOND VA AT THE CORNER OF BROOK RD RT1 & OVERBROOK RD AT 5:05AM.I WAS ASKED IF I NEW WHY I WAS PULLED & I SAID NO. THE COP CHECKED MY ID & CONCELLED WEPONS PERMIT THEN HE SHOWED ME THAT I HAD A FRONT HEADLIGHT OUT . I WAS VERY HAPPY TO BE LET GO WITH A WARNING BECAUSE I REALLY DIDN'T KNOW THAT IT WAS OUT. I DIDN'T GET HIS NAME BUT I DID WANT TO SAY THANKS TO THE RICHMOND VA POLICE DPT. WAYNE E PRESTON JR 3/10/08
ReplyDeleteHaving spent some time in the business, I don't really see the point of this service other than to endanger officers. Cops (and cadets and civilian staff) are all accountable to the public already - that's what the Internal Affairs office of a department is for.
ReplyDeleteIf you have a complaint, the best way to make it stick is to file a formal grievance with the department. The department might sit on it, but they are more likely to take these official complaints seriously than they would some random internet posting. And if you have some praise for the officer, letting the department know directly is the best way to make sure that officer is commended.
Rating your teachers is one thing - knowing which ones are looney can help you in planning your schedule. But rating an officer online really isn't going to do anything other than undermine the department and possibly place officers at risk.
Myself, I like this new trend of being able to get information about those around you.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.ratemycoworkers.com/ and http://www.rottenneighbor.com/ are two other good sites that let you rate those that you deal with on a daily basis.
The VAST majority of police officers are good people who sacrifice a lot for their profession and for their communities. I don't think that a site like this takes away from that, matter of fact, I feel that it gives many of them the recognition they deserve and gives the departments another tool they can use to gauge public opinion.
Cops ARE not cockroaches.. the light will do them good. So much doomsaying. How does knowing your name and badge number hurt a cop? Like you get that when they give you a ticket. Like a 3rd grader knows. Go to US Search. enter the name / aprox age. Pay $25 and get their home address. Like DUH? What do cops think we're stupid??
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I'm a criminal defense attorney, and I'm going to recommend to all of my clients that they go to this website and post comments, good and bad, about their arrests. A question to J-P who "spent some time in the business...but doesn't see the point of this service other than to endanger officers." I don't EVER recall hearing about a law enforcement officer being tracked down while off duty and killed by someone that they arrested--let me know of one.
ReplyDeleteHere in Palm beach county, Florida there are too many officers abusing their power. More random steroid and other illegal drug tests need to be done. Too many officers know exactly when their test is and can easily purchase many products to produce a false negative on their test. If I was president every cop would be subject to automatic double punishment for ANY corrupt acts or crime they commit. As it is now too many corrupt cops get away with their criminal habits by hiding behind other lying officers AND Captains.
ReplyDeleteIf more cops were honest than there would not be so many ordinary people who want to end their corrput ways with a gun. So anyone calling for a shutdown of rate my cop, obviously support corrupt cops.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a good thing that the police are scared of this, they should be!
ReplyDelete"When the people fear the government that is tyranny, when the government fears the people, that is liberty" Adams or Jefferson, depending on which source(s) you believe.
The only police officer that would object to this site is a bad one. I myself have no bad stories to tell nor do I have a criminal record, however I do witness what goes on around me, and to say most cops are good and we only have a few bad ones would only be an effort at political correctness. I believe we live in a country with an equal amount of good and bad police so keep your fingers crossed if you get pulled over. This site will shed a lot of light on this situation and encourage the police to act the way they would if they were being video taped. By the way Mr. Policeman Tazer's are an alternative to your gun and is to be used to protect yourself and the citizens your job is to protect, it is not just an attention getter!!! I live in the Tidewater area of Virginia and have lived in Tenn as well as Missouri and in all three states I have witnessed Good cops and bad cops. This site is just one more tool to hold these people accountable... GREAT WEBSITE....
ReplyDeleteThis is great. Almost all cops have attitude problems. I'm not sure I have ever met even one of them that I like.
ReplyDeleteIf the police had their way they would also do away with all the video cameras catching them beating the hell out of innocent civilians!
ReplyDeleteThis is just yet another way for people who committ crimes and violate the law to state their rights have been violated because they are of one race or another, when in fact they are in the wrong and they know it. Let them complain on this site, it will help them vent and in the end they will continue to be arrested/convicted for violating the law. Then they can complain to their cell mate all over again.
ReplyDeleteI think it's quite amusing that you all talk a big game and make comments like, "As it is now too many corrupt cops get away with their criminal habits by hiding behind other lying officers..." and, "If more cops were honest..."....HOWEVER...those comments were posted by "ANONYMOUS"...hmmm... guess that makes YOU the one that's "HIDING BEHIND OTHERS".
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree there are dirty cops...but there are also dirty teachers, dirty doctors, dirty salesmen, and so on (I think you get the point). I think it's shameful to insult the good officers... you know... the ones who put their lives on the line for you every day. But then again, I've found that the majority of the people who hate cops tend to be your criminals who spend a majority of their lives committing crimes against innocent victims... but hey… if it weren't for people like you Mr./Ms. Anonymous...I guess all those "corrupt" cops (along with the zillion defense attorneys) wouldn't have a job... just a thought...
Its posting no information about officers other than that which is already public and accessible, and the site is 100% protected by the 1st amendment of the US constitution.
ReplyDeleteIt has already been taken down by GODADDY.COM as a result of the controversy it is stirring... A completely cowardly and un-Americanly Knee-Jerk response on the part of the host.
I hope to see it back up, soon, on a server that is operated by fair and just Americans that wont buckle to bullshit political strong-arming.
To police officers who have a problem with the site... sorry, but the site is CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED.
To the comment about internal affairs HA HA HA HAH your serious right? I was in a trafic accident in Gwinnett county Ga. recently, both the gent that hit me and I were fine. The guy that cut me off was total honest about everything and telling me how sorry he was the he completly didnt see me. No big deal it happens we were more concernd that his wife was ok since the impact was on her side. Then the problem started and it arrived in a county squad car, this guy was out of control hand on gun cussing and yelling. I said hey everything is fine and was told to shut up or Id be going to jail. So the need for this fourm is REAL! no heres the kicker when I asked for his badge# and another officer be dispatched to the scene
ReplyDeletehe used some choice verbage and drove off. So derliction of duty, at least I contacted his precint about the issue and IA was going to get right back to me, two calls later I got to leave a voice mail. I have great respect for law and order but no respect for an indivigual that abuses it.
I have, in the past, made complaints against police officers through the proper channels. I received a form letter which stated my alligations were unfounded. If police would police themselves this would not be needed.
ReplyDeleteimagine this, one day all the cops decide the crap work hours, low pay, verbal and physical assaults against them is not wworth it. They ALL quite and find other employment. No cops at all! The united States would not last a week before we all lived the quality of lives lived out in Hati, Solmolia, or Sierra Leone.
ReplyDeleteMaybe folks should quit busting on cops so much and obey the laws.
If the government can monitor us for no reason, then we should be able to monitor them. We pay their salaries.
ReplyDeleteMy employer has the right to monitor my performance in any way he sees fit. Why should the cops who work for ME be any different?
You're a cop who doesn't like it when plain old taxpayers monitor you? That's fine with me. Quit, and get another job! See how your employer handles your desire to be unmonitored in the private sector!
GoDaddy shut down the site...I understand both sides of the argument...
ReplyDeleteToby...since you claim to PAY OUR SALARY... I guess that makes you the cheap-skate. (LOL) Make sure you tell the next cop that when he/she pulls you over...that way they can give you back the whole 5-cents (I'm being kind) that you actually contributed to their 20-year salary.(LOL) Man-oh-man do I love arrogant fools...believe me...they keep us laughing on those rainy days.
ReplyDeleteHey, do you think this federal "cop" should still be running around with a badge and a gun? http://www.gis19502.info/3.html
ReplyDeleteSomeone tell us why you think they'd treat you fairly if it came down to you or their promotions.
Have you actually read some of the ratings given by people already on this website. It is a bunch of jokers screwing around. What credibility is there anyways to this. You either beleive all the reviews, or none. Of course, most of you morons will pick out the bad reviews anyways, and ignore the good ones. This site is a complete joke. What's next, rate everyone.com? That way you can give your opinion on how your food was served, your trash was picked up, or how you were treated at the grocery. This is all so stupid. Get over it. Especially the racist idiot that made the first comment. Yeah, all the "FAIR WHITE" judges got it in for you, but can't make the charges stick. Hmmmm, I'm a minority too, and I have never had that problem, must be you. Good luck on you're website.
ReplyDeleteToby, your cliche remarks only highlight your ignorance.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, local police officers cannot monitor you without cause. A search warrant is required for that.
Second, a portion of your taxes pay officers salaries, but you are not their employer. Police officers pay taxes, too, does that mean that they are self-employed? Not hardly.
Third, law enforcement is among the most highly monitored professions around. Officers on the streets have, at minimum, 5 layers of supervisors and administrators watching over them, and that is not including the internal affairs unit. Very few professions in the private sector are as highly scrutinized as police officers.
If people really want to begin to understand why officers do what they do, get involved with your local department. Many departments offer Citizens Police Academies. Lastly, there are certainly bad cops out there, but nobody wants them ousted more than the good ones.
John4D..... As for being Anonymous I just don't take the time to create an account and I don't see you giving out your personal info either which makes you Anonymous as well... "JOHN4D" If you are so ungrateful about what the tax payers give you for a salary why are you still a cop? Is this the only job that allows you to take out your frustrations on innocent victims? The fact is I know some very good cops and have a relative that is a cop, all of them believe their profession is hiring much lower quality individuals today than they use to. If this site is such a joke why does it concern you so much and why all the controversy? I think there is going to be a huge lack of credibility to this site and I am sure all of the thugs will voice their incredibly ignorant thoughts on it, but it is a step in the right direction to allow upstanding concerned citizens to fight back against a corrupt system that is very real. I don't know who you are Mr. Anonymous John4D, but you seem to be very defensive... in words you can understand; I would say under interrogation you would sound GUILTY of something. Hmmm I wonder what would happen to you in a room full of concerned citizens when they turn the camera off... If that sounds like a threat than you know how it feels to be on the other side of this issue. I believe this country would be just fine if all the bad cops quit their jobs tomorrow. History has proven that honest Americans will always rise to the occasion when necessary. It is the lack of respect and anger in the words of John4D that has created this problem; if he were honest he would embrace this opportunity to get rid of the men and women that have given his profession a bad name. Clean up this system and maybe the tax payers will vote to increase your salaries because they feel they need your help. Again not all cops are bad, my uncle is a very good one and he does not fear this site and neither should you John4D.... or should you?
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why anyone thinks cop killers will use this site as a list of targets, if that was a real concern wouldn't the police car in your driveway be a bigger concern? Lets be honest about this and hear some real concerns from the police......
ReplyDeleteI guess that this cop was being monitored by the layers in his department right? I whole family could've been killed if he wasn't.

CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY This message is to the criminal defense attorney who left a post on March 11, 2008. regarding that he has never heard of cop being tracked down while off duty and killed by a susp. A LAPD Cop had arrested a susp for a crime. That susp got out on bail. That susp watched and waited and followed the Cop who was off duty. The Cop went to pick up his son at the Childcare center. The susp was waiting outside. The susp shot and killed the Cop infront of his child and numerous others. So Mr Criminal defense attorney think twice before and do some research before you talk. Just like the research you bend to get your criminal susps off. So think twice !
ReplyDeleteFirst to the criminal defense attorney, you must not live in the Los Angeles area. I am an officer in the LA area and know that dozens of officers have been attacked at their home by the scum that you so proudly represent. Thank GOD that none of them have died but there have been many that were close. Because I am good at my job for the last 20 years, I personally couldn't care at all if the site was up and running. The only thing I would ask is none of my personal information (address, children, faimly, vehicles, etc) be put on here. My family has been a victim of a high-up gang member and we had to move in the middle of the night under guard after 22 seal bombs were found in the bushes in front of my home. I personally just heard about this website yesterday in roll call and was curious what was on there. People are rude to me all day long at work so typing opinions about me on a website is not going to hurt my feelings. I really don't care how Joe-Q-Citizen feels about me because 90% of my contact with the public is because I was called there for something bad.
ReplyDeleteTo the individual who plans on setting up a similar site, I say go for it! My wife (who is a officer also) is setting up a site for officers to post their different contacts with citizens while on the job. So to you who want to bash officers but can't keep your nose clean, check out our site, when we get it going, and maybe you will be a star in a story about how much of a jerk you were to an officer. It goes both ways!
there was already a site like this (http://www.ratemyeverything.net), which includes cop ratings. I wonder why no one has complained about it??? According to Alexa it gets several million hits a month and it is the number 1 search result on google if you type "rate my cop"
ReplyDeleteI really don't think this site is stupid. There really isn't a public forum for someone who's legitimately been harmed by a cop to seek assistance.
ReplyDeleteI've successfully battled a bad cop. I tried reporting it to that cop's superiors, the city attorney, and the city mayor...nothing. It wasn't until I was able to raise $5,000 to hire an attorney that things started to get looked into. 18 months and about $20,000 later my case was resolved and justice was done.
Can you imagine how frustrating and financially damaging that was? And think about how many people couldn't actually raise those funds needed to seek justice. The bad cops would get away with it all the time, and they know this.
Anyhow. There are punk asses that would defame someone for a speeding ticket they earned but in the larger picture...good cops will always be supported by their communities and wouldn't end up on that site.
To all the anonymous posters and cop haters, especially those who claim this site is protected by the first amendment..
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, who do you think is out there protecting those constitutioanl rights?? The cops. If ANYONE has a bad interaction with a cop, there is already a system in place to complain on them with each department. This site can give an open forum to anyone to complain about cops, and they can get sympathy from everyone else who was guilty, but can't take responsiblity for thier own actions and therefore blame the "crocked lying cops". Secondly... there are "bad cops" out there.. some people just aren't meant to do the job. But the actual number of criminal cops is a lot lower than the left liberal press reports to America. Isn't it ironic that you only see citizens being beat by cops? Where are the cameras when it is one cop alone against a guy twice his size and he is fighting for his life until backup arrives? No one ever reports this. But it happens much more often than the rouge cop beating an "innocent" citizen. This site is the epitome of the age old adage.. "Don't believe everything you read and only half of what you see."
Third: to the defense attorney .. here is an example for you. Three times in my career a person I have arrested, and who subsequently made threats, found me. Did that make national media? no.. why? because we unlike your clients, understand our responsiblity and know that there are risks. We do not blame anyone else for this but put the blame where it belongs, in court, and in the lap of the offender.
If having your persoanl information out there for everyone to see is so innocent.. Then next time you post.. put your name.. address, telephone number along with it.
For me. I would rather not have someone who doesn't know me at all, put my FAMILY at risk by putting this information out there for ANY person to see. It's hard enough keeping it from the people who live in my community, now I have to worry about the traveling nut job?
As for the rights forwarded in the Constitution.. they noly extend as far as they interfere with another person's rights. In this case, the right to "Free Speech" is interfeering with my right to the pursuit of life liberty and happiness.
This is a follow up to my previous psot. For anyone thinking I am one of the bad cops and fear retribution from this site, nothing could be further from the truth. My record is stellar. That being said, should someone want to find me, I can be located 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. If said person wishes to do me harm.. so be it, part of the job. I take that responsibility proudly, and with humilty. What I endeavor to avoid, is this happening in front of my wife and children. The phone call would be bad enough, but do they have to see it as well? All I ask is that it not be made easy fo someone to find ANY cop they wish to do harm to. For the record, I am against ANY site that reveals personal information about anyone that is unregulated. It opens everyone up to any number of crimes.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, the whole taxes thing. In our city, the average taxpayer contributes about 50 cents a year to each officer's salary. In most cases when someone tells me that they pay my salary, they get way more than 50 cents worth of service from me.
Even the worst criminal in the world thinks he's a good person and the cop that busted him is the 'bad guy'....simple cognitive dissonance....the whole 'Only the bad cops have something to worry about' mantra is naive at best....and completely disingenuous at worst. You have the right to set these kind of websites up in a free society....but lets not kid ourselves about their intent and purpose, which is pure vindictive revenge! As for the 'defense attorney' who is advising his clients to post often 'good' and bad....if his name appeared on a 'BAD AMBULANCE CHASER' website he'd file a lawsuit so fast it would make everyone's head swim. Attorneys are the only folks in this society who believe they are above the law, because they are the high priests of it....the cop, the poor schlub charged by society to visibly enforce the law is the guy who takes the blame for a corrupt system made so by the jackasses who make the money...LAWYERS!
ReplyDeleteGood cops will end up on this site simply because they're doing their job....and for the guy who thinks their communities will back them, it's asinine....folks only care about the cops if they're writing them a ticket....or hear about one getting shot....other than that, cops are a necessary evil in their mind. Nobody is going to get on this kind of website to tell what a 'good job' a particular cop did....this is a tool for the anonymous parasites of society to snipe at someone who MOST LIKELY dealt with them in a professional manner for something they DID and DESERVED! Have your petty little website! I wish every cop in the country would take the week off and go on vacation and let society check out it's own prowlers in the middle of the night, work it's own burglaries, solve it's own homicides. Personally, i'll survive just fine...but I suspect several of the bottom feeders frequenting the sight, including the ambulance chaser who posted earlier, wouldn't fair so well....someone might carjack him and his nice BMW while he's on the way to defend one of his scumbag clients!
ReplyDeleteTo the Defense Attorney who stated he has never heard of a cop being 'killed' or otherwise harassed by a criminal....I actually had my dog killed by a crackdealing POS who went to my home when I wasn't there! I guess it's all a big joke for Defense Attorneys in their gated communities...but someday I hope you get to meet one of your clients in the capacity cops deal with them every day...not when you've cleaned them up for court, but as they exist in the REAL world, out in society. 'Criminal' Defense Attorney? That's kind of redundant don't you think?
ReplyDeleteto all those who don't have a problem with putting cops' information out on the net for everyone to see & seem to have all kinds of time to post negative blogs on the issue, the next time you want to post a negative comment about a cop, why don't you also post your name & address!
ReplyDeleteI'm an officer and concerned only about my safety, my family and that of my fellow officers. Posting our personal information for display to the public is a big safety issue.
ReplyDeleteThe other is that which is already a fact in this profession. You cannot make everyone happy, and most of the time, you can't. I get dispatched because something bad has happened and no one is ever glad to see me. And when I enforce traffic laws, only a few have ever been courteous. People, for the most part, don't like the police because of our authoritative status and this will be yet another forum to bash the police. It's nothing new.
Well, bring it. I promise you we'll just keep making you upset when you do something wrong, whether you air your madness here or like you are supposed to, to Internal Affairs.
I worked in court system 30 yrs. They know everything about the public, but they don't want the public to know about them, now they know how joe public feals. In 30 yrs.I meet 2-3 good cops, there higher than mighty attitudes turn people off. Are they not to set examples for the public ? no wonder there worried. They lie in court and get special treatment there, just to get convictions. CORRECTIONS OFFICERS should also be sized up,the horror stories (facts) of murder, rape, unbeliveable beatings. This is a great website, let the people be heard, can everybody be wrong, lets weed out all of these unhuman proudcts that give the (Serpico)good cops a bad rap, and filing a complaint dose no good with the department. Cook County,Chicago,Ill.
ReplyDeleteGREAT SITE AT LAST, but do you really think the court system is going to change , the corrupt police, judges, and states attorneys that make dishonest deals to cover up for the police. The system as a whole is corrupt, no wonder why dislike police, they can't be trusted, look at there conviction rate, if they can't find the real person that did the crime, they just pick someone who fits the discription. Look at all the people who are getting out of jails on DNA results, not many rich people in jail. and what about all those corrupt retired police, with the good cop bad cop attitudes, how do they live with the fact that they did the wrong thing for years and years. and didn't think anything about it. Jacksonville, Florida
ReplyDeleteJacksonville Beach,Florida, Police Department, corrupt police in the whole department, 2 officers that are not, I'm one of them. sorry guys, I feal so guilty about where I work, public notice
ReplyDeleteTo all the good poilce help the public and your department get the BAD police out, you know who they are, and untill they are removed the good police will suffer along with the public, Thank you good police we need you and respect you, and stand behind you, but your fellow officers are hurting everyone, yes there is bad in everyone, doctors, teachers, ect. but they don't carry guns,if I shoot someone I go to jail no matter what, if they shoot someone they go on department leave, with pay.And after 2-3 weeks you never hear anything about it ever again ?
ReplyDeleteDear Officers, we have to be ANONYMOUS, so many people have been afraid to speak out against the bad police, do you think for one munite a bad cop won't retaliate against anyone. People are afraid of police because of the power they have over you, when is the last a judge took your word over a police persons word.
ReplyDeleteTo the idiot that says it does not endanger a cop, and that he has never heard of one being hunted down...
ReplyDeleteIn Gadsden County, FL a officer and his wife were hunted down and killed over a year ago at their house, and he arrested the scum bag(s) that did it. Wake up moron...there are psycho's out there.
A cop
O.k how about this.I own a company that installs gutter covers on homes both average in size and large in size.My average week can be a little dangerous but for the most part it is 1st story stuff.I would bet if you gave any hundred officrs in this country a chance to make roughly 675-825 dollars a day installing this product what would you here? TOO dangerous I'm sure. I have personally offered to 3 officers (friends) and they said was to scary. Now here is my point.Cops want to cry pay, danger, hours but if they are so much in danger and lack of pay step up and do something that does not get you BRAGGING RIGHTS. Ya it's no accident cops are in it for the glory.Let's face it.I have no desire to be a cop because I am better than that and I want a real future for my kids not a WERE STRUGGLIG IN DEBT lifestyle.Code of blue is another argument,SERIOUS STERIOD ABUSE is another and sitting in your car 65% percent of the time well thats pretty great too. I personally do not like cops because they do not like me>>>since I am accomplished and boy do they pick up on it fast.IF YOU THINK BEING A COP IS AN ACCOMPLISHMENT YOU BETTER GO LAY THE FUCK DOWN IN A CORNER cause in essence it's the best you could do!!!Oh and by the way I have a relative that detests the fact my wife is hotter than dammit and his wife is an oaf. We recently talked about him starting a tile business because the money was not good when in actuality he's realizing that trying to keep your childhood dreams through being a policeman might not be such a hot idea.Anyway just attempt to tralk to a judge the way cops talk to citizen! If all you CHRISTIANS think were all equal you better get in the same corner as the little cop that is scared of heights but will RISK HIS LIfe for 125 dollars a day MAYBE!!! Sorry folks just had to enterject the truth this country isn't really good for it but I try to keep it in line. D.E.
ReplyDeleteI agree with sites such as this one. I did not used to but I do now. After all The Berwyn Police Blotter out of Berwyn, IL allows this department to post untruths about people or even those associated with them. My encounter with them was as follows. I actually had 2 detectives out of their jurisdiction show up on my porch asking to seize some personal property and lied to me about why they were taking it only to hurt and persecute someone close to me. They were from Berwyn, IL. They took written notes and everything. The sad thing is that I trusted them. Why, because they are supposed to protect and serve, not lie and deceive. Something seriously needs to be done about cops that lie to perform their duties. In my opinion if they have to lie then something is not right about what they are trying to prove. All this has done is make me lose faith in police officers. Obviously they are all crooked cops. All I can say is that if this ends up in court I hope to testify because I will tell the truth about the Berwyn Police Department. They have made a mockery about justice and their career.

ReplyDeleteGutter guy- Are they scared of heights - maybe. Scared of falling off a roof and risking losing their job/pension after getting hurt off-duty? Most likely. Until you have worked as a cop and experienced all there is to offer, keep your mind open. It's true that most of the time we're not doing much that would count as dangerous. But there are those times that I'm so scared I consider taking my badge off and walking away. But I don't. It's all part of what we have to do. I don't make rash opinions about gutter installers. Know why? I've never installed gutters for a living and therefor, don't have a clue what I'm talking about. I could guess, but that'd prove I'm ignorant - just like you have done. Oh... and my wife is hot. How'd that happen?!?!

And please Officers, save the "bad appples" argument because we all know that "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree".

This site would be fine if the people leaving the comments on it had to be held accountable also. Anyone can go and say anything they want about any officer. It would be excellent if there were some sort of way to contact the officer when he/she recieves a rating to respond to what the person says about them. Most officers don't know this site exists. People always want to seem to want to hold officers accountable, which is fine, but what they also need to do is hold themselves and other citizens in general accountable. I have no problem telling anyone about anything that is going on as long as my safety, my co-workers safety, and the safety of everyone around in general is not compromised. I think all in all the concept of this site is fine as long as the people also contact the department with their commendations and complaints as well as posting there.

ReplyDeletepolice shouldn't worry much about this site anymore as it has been taken over and is regulated by the police now. Police are now free to harrass the sheep as the see fit with no one to fight them back..hit a nerve did we??

Personally , the world has gone nuts over personal info. What is so true is that we have created a gapping hole in the lives of every individual we know and have entrusted us with there security and our own. Leave the police work to them. This will be our way of saying," that we the people believe in our law enforcement agencies and its law and recognize that we will entrust whole heartedly in the good officers that protect and serve the general public".
ReplyDeleteWith that said. Stop trying to be a cop , you are endangering the lives of those that protect us!
YOU ARE CREATING SMOKE AND WE NEED TO CLEAR THE AIR TO FIND THOSE THAT ARE CORRUPT!
